Al Rayyan is a horse of classic type, incredible eyes, tail carriage and extreme charisma. He was born at Imperial Egyptian Stud and sold to the famous Al Shaqab Stud in Qatar as a yearling in 1994. As a junior he won several championships and most classic head awards in the Middle Eastern show circuit. Al Rayyan's dry, classic head soon made him famous and word flew around the world that this son of Imperial Madheen is easily his most beautiful one. All who had seen Al Rayyan winning the title of Middle East Junior Champion Colt at Jordan in 1997 agreed, as he was not only the most elegant of all the colts but the one with the best movement as well. The traits that Arabians are loved for – the chiseled head, large dark eye, pride and elegance, wonderful disposition – are clearly evident in Al Rayyan. The traits that made Arabians famous – the powerful movement with tremendous drive from the rear, excellent topline and a strong back, high-set neck, the balance and harmony of the body, the proud carriage – are clearly visible. Khalid Al Haddad from Saudi Arabia couldn't resist Al Rayyan's charm and charisma and bought him for his Al Aadeyat stud in 1999. He entered him in several shows and in 2000 he was made Supreme Champion of the Saudi Arabian Western Province Championships where he also won the Most Classc Head award. His beauty comes as no surprise as his full sister, the late Imperial Madanah who resided in Qatar, was regarded one of the most beautiful straight Egyptian mares one can imagine. Whilst Al Rayyan's virtues are many, it is as a sire that he is excelling. His foals are all indelibly stamped with his best attributes.
Al Rayyan (Imperial Madheen x Imperial Naffata) combines the type and beauty of his sire with the elegance, scope and athletic ability of his maternal grandsire, Moniet El Nafis. From Imperial Madheen he retains the huge black eyes, the overall harmony, fine legs and the characteristic tail carriage. This famous sire, born in Germany and buried in Egypt, has left a legacy around the world and certainly needs no introduction. Imperial Madheen is a household name in the world of Arabian horses as was the afore-mentioned Moniet El Nafis. This ultra-elegant Sakawi stallion was best-known for siring fine broodmares and classic race winners. Al Rayyan's dam Imperial Naffata was the most successful daughter of the famous chestnut mare Imperial Fanniya (Faleh x Deenaa), bred by Gleannloch Farms and one of Imperial Egyptian Stud's foundation brood mares. Imperial Fanniya resembled her sire Faleh (Alaa El Din x Farasha) a lot whose athletic skills and sheer elegance won him countless performance championships in North America. In fact Faleh stood unchallenged as Alaa El Din's winningest son in the showring. Fanniya's dam Deenaa (by Sameh) founded a legacy of her own and her line is known for producing horses of excellent type and good bodies. Many famous sires stem from the Deenaa line (like the late Anaza El Farid or the black Imperial Mashhar in Morocco) and Al Rayyan is no exception to this rule! PERSONALITY Al Rayyan is beautiful in body and spirit. Handler Frank Spönle, who has worked with hundreds of different horses over the years, calls him "an angel". He is smart, easy to train and willing to please. Ask him and he will do everything what you want but don't try to push him because as the aristocrat that he is, Al Rayyan will not tolerate any kind of abuse!
